The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) Casino Filipino-Cebu was the top donor of the Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Philippines Inc. (ASFFPI), a shelter for the abandoned children in barangay Pilipog, Cordova, Cebu.
Pagcor was presented a certificate of recognition by ASFFPI during the shelter’s annual awarding program last Feb. 14.
Last December, Pagcor distributed Christmas gifts to the children under the care of the foundation.
The gaming agency also donated materials amounting to P360,000 for the fencing of the Children’s Haven.
Other donors included the municipality of Cordova, which donated P100,000 for the children’s school needs; the Cebu Technological University which gave free education for the five students studying in the university; private companies at the Mactan Export Processing Zone and other individuals who provided tutorial services to the kids.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which has been providing technical assistance to ASFFPI staff, was also presented a certificate of recognition.
ASFFPI is accredited by the DSWD and affiliated with the Albert Schweitzer-Verband der Familienwerke (ASV) of Berlin, Germany.
With limited funding from ASV, the foundation appeals for support for the education of the children.
It also accepts other assistance in the form of supplies like food stuff, toiletries, school items, clothing, tables and chairs, and appliances such as laptops for its administrative work, washing machine, gas range and stove.
