She nearly fainted after her 18-year persistence finally paid off.

A 79-year-old widow won the P67-million jackpot in the Feb. 28 Grand Lotto draw, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

The woman, a native of Iloilo province, was accompanied by three of her five children when she claimed her winnings on Monday at the PCSO headquarters Pasay City, General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas said on Tuesday.

Playing the lotto since 1995, she finally picked the winning combination—28-30-07-36-33-15—which was partly based on the birth dates of her children and on the day one of them died, Rojas said.

According to the woman, she will spend the money to buy a new house and lot, build a community chapel and split up the rest with her children and grandchildren. Jodee Agoncillo
