Police release sketch of suspects in Cainta shooting

MANILA, Philippines—Police authorities released a composite sketch Monday of suspects believed to be behind the shooting incident that wounded the executive secretary of Cainta Mayor Ramon Ilagan.

Superintendent Carlito Briones of Cainta police said a bowling competition was being held at the Suburban Bowling Recreation in Marick Subdivision, Barangay (village) Santo Domingo in Cainta, Rizal around 9:50 p.m. last Thursday when one of the two suspects appeared from behind and shot Jaime De Leon, 62, in his neck.

The other suspect was said to have served as a “back up,” Briones said.

The suspects then fled towards A. Bonifacio on board a motorcycle.

In the computerized facial composite sketch of the two men, the suspect who shot De Leon was described to be about 5’3” to 5’4” in height, medium built, aged between 35 to 38 years old, and was wearing a grey sleeveless shirt and denim short pants.

The other suspect was described to be standing about 5’4”, medium built, aged between 30 to 35 years old, and was wearing a bull cap, grey sweatshirt, and faded denim pants.

Both were said to be armed with an unknown caliber of pistol.

“At present, the victim is under treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the province wherein tight security was provided by his relatives and personnel of Cainta PNP,” Briones said, adding that Special Investigation Investigation Task Force Jam has been activated to lead the probe.

Briones said Mayor Ilagan has placed a P300,000 reward to anyone who will be able to provide information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

For any information relative to the case, Briones said the following numbers may be contacted: 09152650754 and 09214613717. Information that will be provided by tipsters “will be treated with a high degree of confidentiality,” Briones added.
