Undefeated Ilonggo Genesis “Azukal” Servania defeated veteran Indonesian Angky “Time Bomb” Angkotta via a seven-round stoppage in the co-main event of the Pinoy Pride 18: World Champion vs. World Champion at the Pacific Grand Ball Room of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino Saturday night.
Servania, the WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight champion, showcased his ring prowess by using his reach and height advantage together with his power and counter-punching skills against Angkotta for the victory.
Servania dictated the first to sixth rounds, bombarding Angkotta with stinging combinations that forced the latter to shift in defensive mode. In the seventh round, it was too much for the Indonesian as he suffered a cut in his left eyebrow and got caught by a left hook and an uppercut that broke his nose. This triggered referee Tony Pezons to stop the fight in the 2:59 mark of the seventh round, giving Servania his 20th victory and seventh via knockout. Angkotta suffered his ninth loss with 26 wins and 14 knockouts.
“ I’m very happy with my performance because I was able to hit him with hard combinations,” said Servania. “With regards to my future bouts and my pursuit to become a world champion, only my manager (Michael Aldeguer) will decide. But I’m ready for tough fights ahead.”
Meanwhile, Jimrex “ The Executioner” Jaca also downed Thai Rachamonkol Sor Pleonchit in the seventh round of their undercard fight.
Jaca’s excellent combinations decked Sor Pleonchit in the 53-second mark of the seventh round.
Jaca already knocked down Sor Pleonchit with a short left overhand in the second round. But instead of giving up, Sor Pleonchit showed everyone his strength and fought back, pinning Jaca to the ropes with one-two combinations to the head.
However, Jaca’s counter punches rocked Sor Pleonchit and staggered him several times before he finally fell with an uppercut followed by a left straight and left hook.
Jaca’s record has now improved to 37 wins with 21 knockouts, six losses and three draws. Sor Pleonchit, a former Muay Thai champion, absorbed his fifth loss against 13 wins, five coming from knockouts.
ALA Gym prospect Mark Bernaldez won by TKO at the start of the third round against Rolando Omela of Davao city.
Just like Servania and Jaca, Bernaldez punished Omela in each round and he was able to knock him down twice in the opening round and continued the punishment all the way to the second round.
Omela’s corner subsequently decided that their boxer has had enough.
