Meralco provides 24/7 assistance this Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines—Manila Electric Co., the country’s biggest power distributor, has reminded its customers to be conscious of “electrical safety” at home, especially for those planning to go elsewhere during the Holy Week.

“Simple safety measures such as using only light bulbs of specified wattage for lamp or lighting fixture, avoiding ‘octopus connections,’ and keeping combustible materials away from lamps and other sources of heat are some of several reminders we often tell our customers,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, customer retail services and corporate communications head at Meralco.

Panlilio also assured Meralco’s 4.8 million customers the distribution utility is ready to provide 24-hour assistance during the Holy Week.

Meralco’s emergency crews are on alert and ready to respond to any contingency during the holy week break, according to Panlilio.  Meralco has already put in place the necessary measures that would allow it to respond to unexpected power outages and interruptions, he added.

Panlilio noted that although Meralco has been regularly maintaining and upgrading its facilities, there were instances in the past, though rarely, when some areas experienced localized and isolated power interruptions during this time of the year.

In case of emergencies, Panlilio reminded Meralco customers to inform and call Meralco’s 24-hour call center hotline at telephone number 16211.

“Our call center is ready to respond to customers’ needs at any given time. Its service is available 24/7,” Panlilio added.
