No funds for busted traffic lights

TALISAY City Hall has yet to secure funding to replace the busted traffic lights in their area leading to the South Road Properties (SRP).

Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, who also chairs the Talisay City-Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) said only two of the five traffic lights in the SRP road from their area heading to Cebu City are functional.

This means motorists heading to the area are vulnerable to high speed accidents.

Bucao said the traffic lights were in use for 20 years.

Engr. Joel Estorba, formerly in charge of maintaining the traffic lights, was transferred to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Some other traffic lights were manned by CT-TODA personnel but no one maintains these traffic lights at night.

Bucao said he already requested Mayor Socrates Fernandez for additional traffic enforcers to make up for the busted traffic lights. /Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc
