3,000 hired in job fairs
MANILA, Philippines—Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on Friday said nearly 3,000 jobseekers were hired on the spot in the job fairs that the DOLE regional offices sponsored in January this year.
Baldoz said the new hires will work as marketing officers, salesclerks, welders, promodizers, call center agents, computer technicians, waiters, domestic helpers and factory workers.
The other new workers include nurses, computer technicians, auto mechanics, accountants and electricians.
Baldoz said that in the 40 job fairs held nationwide in January, 21,385 job applicants registered for the 70,651 job vacancies which were offered by 621 employers/establishments that participated.
