LAGUNA—A daughter of the vice mayor of Pangil, Laguna, is believed to have shot herself inside a school owned by her family on Thursday, authorities said Friday.

Senior Insp. Edmund Capistrano, Pangil police chief, said by phone that Joanne Dioces Reyes, 25, the daughter of the town’s vice mayor, Jovit Reyes, shot herself in the chest with a .22-cal. gun at around 5 p.m.
