5 killed, 10 hurt in road accident in N. Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines – Five people were killed and 10 others were injured when three vehicles figured in a collision in North Cotabato Friday afternoon, police said.

Chief Inspector Jordain Maribujo, Pikit chief of police, said the accident along the National Highway in Barangay (village) Nalapaan in Pikit, North Cotabato around 12:10 p.m. involved a van (LHD 715), a Lawin jeepney (MVH 268), and a 6×6 military truck.

He said initial investigation revealed that the van, driven by Mohamad Samil Ali, was on its way to Pikit from Cotabato City when it hit the oncoming jeepney.

The van, he said, eventually rammed the side of the military vehicle that was tailing the jeepney.

Three of the five fatalities included the van’s driver, along with Solaiman Makaindig; and Andbacuna Musa, while eight of the 10 injured victims were identified as Castilion Tintin; Elmer Madsay; Judy Uy; Esmael Niafa; Minang Norhana; Landasan Marima; Manampan Ch Anads; And Lumanda Sadam.

The fatalities were taken to a funeral home at Midsayap for proper disposition while investigators were checking on the status of other victims rushed to the hospital.
