A drunk, 54-year-old man allegedly stabbed his own son dead during an argument Wednesday night in Mandaluyong City.
The police were set to file charges against Rudy Esponilla, who surrendered to barangay (village) watchmen on Thursday.
This was after Esponilla killed his son Bernard, 25, at their house in Welfareville Compound, Barangay Addition Hills.
Investigators said the elder Esponilla came home drunk and angry for a still unknown reason around 7:30 p.m.
Bernard first tried to pacify him, but an argument broke out instead between father and son.
Esponilla pulled out a fan knife (balisong) and stabbed his son in the chest. The latter was declared dead upon reaching the hospital. Nathaniel R. Melican
