CEBU City’s traffic personnel will conduct its “safety audit” of the flyovers before the week ends in order to submit its recommendations on March 6.
Rafael Yap, Cebu City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) chief, said work schedules prevented them from doing their safety audit yesterday.
The safety audit came amid last week’s accident that injured a former beauty titlist.
SPO4 Nelson Jayme, chief traffic investigator of the City Police Traffic Patrol Group, said former Miss Mandaue 2010 winner Karina Gajudo will undergo a psychological debriefing after completing her recovery at a hospital.
Gajudo lost her left leg during the accident at the Banilad flyover.
The woman’s father, Allan asked for privacy. Jayme said the victim had a driver’s license.
Jayme said they will have to interview Gajudo since her family owns the vehicle.
Gajudo supposedly drove the vehicle with 19-year-old Junichi Kuribayashi.
Immediately after the incident, Citom applied reflectorized paint on the lane divider to make the signage visible on the road.
“We are sharing with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) the responsibility of ensuring road safety for our motorists,” Yap said.
Yap said they will present a report based on the inspection during Citom’s regular meeting on Wednesday, March 6.
Citom’s recommendation will then be sent to the DPWH next week. “Probably, they will receive it on March 8 or 9,” he said. Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao
