About a week after fire disrupted their wedding reception, newly wed Dionesio Marimon, 29 and Anna Marie Sanopao-Marimon, 27 were still picking up the pieces of their home.
Anna Marie is now back to work in SM Mall, while Dionesio is staying home after his contract from the same mall expired. His hands though are busy rebuilding their house.
The couple who tied the knot after years of living together last Feb. 18 had a major trial in their life when fire hit their barangay Bulacao neighborhood just as they were to partake of their wedding feast. The fire gobbled 20 houses, including the newly wed’s rented house.
Relatives came to help them rebuild the house they rented for P2,000 a month for almost four years already.
“Imbes manuroy mi uban sa among tagsa-tagsa ka pamilya, mao hinuon ni among gidangatan,” said Anna Marie.
(Instead of us going out of town with a few relatives after the wedding, this is what befell us.)
Dionesio’s parents are staying in Caubian Island in Lapu-Lapu City, while Anna Marie’s are living in Ronda town.
Despite of the fire that struck during their wedding reception, Anna Marie in smiling when she told Cebu Daily News “maayo nalang gani kay naluwas mi tanan.”
(The good thing, no one was harmed among us.)
The couple have two children aged five and two.
To make up for the disrupted wedding reception, the couple decided to have a picnic in Tubod Spring in Minglanilla last weekend.
They also visited the shrine of the Birhen sa Simala in Sibonga town.
Trials
If the fire brought them any good, Dionesio and Anna Marie said, it has brought their family closer.
“Maingon namo nga mi duol mi sa usag usa,” said Dionesio, while Anna Marie held his hand tightly and their five-year-old daughter sitting closely.
The couple are no strangers to calamities. Two years ago, the two lost their work when the Gaisano Capitol burned.
Anna Marie said: “Daghan nami pagsuway nga naagian pero nagpakasal jud mi.” They were married in the Sto. Tomas Villanueva Parish Church in barangay Pardo.
(We have been through a lot of trials, but we held on and got married in the church.)
Dionisio remains hopeful, he would land another job soon so he could provide for his family.
