MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reminded the public that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or the number coding scheme will remain in effect Monday amid the 27th anniversary celebration of the People Power Revolution.
In a twitter post, MMDA said the “number coding will be enforced today.”
Under the coding rule, plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed on major thoroughfares.
MMDA said Ortigas flyover and Service Road going to White Plains was also temporarily closed to traffic in line with the celebration, which will be highlighted by the traditional “Salubungan” to be attended by military and police officials.
Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman, earlier said that around 1000 police officers will be deployed to maintain security along the vicinity of the People Power Monument.
President Benigno Aquino III was also expected to attend the celebration along with top officials from the PNP led by its chief, Director General Alan Purisima.
