Shelter for abandoned children in Cordova to continue to operate

The Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Philippines Inc. (ASFFPI), a child-caring facility in Cordova town in Mactan Island, signed a contract with the Albert-Schweitzer-Verband (ASV) of Berlin, Germany for the continuous implementation of programs and services for the disadvantaged children and youth.

ASV Federation president Heiner Koch visited ASFFPI for an audit and contract signing during the ASFFPI’s awarding ceremonies last Feb. 14.

ASFFPI president Esekias Malaza represented the local chapter of the Albert Schweitzer organization.

ASV remitted to ASFFPI P265,000 as additional fund for the fencing project of the foundation.

The signing of the contract was witnessed by ASV managing director Margitta Behnke and ASFFPI executive director Martiniana Mercado.

Koch was impressed with the financial management of ASFFPI and the strategies implemented by the foundation to generate more resources for the education of the children under its custody.

He thanked the benefactors, donors and sponsors for their financial and material assistance that benefited the 62 children at ASFFPI.

Provincial Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy, who was responsible for allocating 12,000 sq.m. for the construction of buildings for the abandoned children and youth, assured ASFFPI of financial support after it shall have been accredited by the Provincial government.

Mayor Adelino Sitoy also pledged to support the programs and projects of the foundation.
