THE national government will allocate P400 million for a road widening project that leads to several hotels and resorts in Lapu-Lapu City.
President Benigno Aquino III confirmed this during his speech for the opening of the Mactan Newtown project last Wednesday. The road project will extend from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority in barangay Ibo to barangay Buaya and may reach barangays Mactan and Maribago.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said she may ask the national government to declare Punta Engaño road a national road since hotels and resorts are lined along the way with with more to be built in the years ahead.
A total of P300 million will be spent for road widening and P100 million for land acquisition. Radaza said the city government is already informing affected establishments and public schools about the project,which she said will “entice more investors.”
Rehabilitation starts tomorrow of the Mandaue-Mactan bridge and the Fernan bridge. With this, adaza held off a road concreting project on Maximo Patalinjug Avenue to avoid worsening traffic. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
