THE CEBU Eastern College (CEC) Dragons locked up the second seed in the semifinals of the 16-under division of the 2013 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup after they routed the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, 57-41, yesterday at the CEC gym.
CEC owns a 2-1 (win-loss) record while SHS-AdC dropped to the third seed at 1-2. The University of the Visayas (UV) remains at the top with a 2-0 record.
The Dragons took advantage of an Eagles squad composed of players from the reserve team as they asserted themselves from the get-go and never looked back for the easy win.
With Shan Tan at the helm, CEC zoomed to an 18-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of action. Then, Kent Moral orchestrated a breakaway in the ensuing canto, wherein they flourished in transition and outscored their opponents, 18-8, for a 36-18 halftime lead.
Tan led the way with 15 points while Kris Yap added 10.
In the other game in the 16-U division, the University of San Jose-Recoletos outlasted Abellana National School, 42-37 to claim the last ticket to the semifinals.
In the 10-under division, SHS-AdC got its third win in five games after beating the University of San Carlos-South B, 18-15. The 13-under BB class saw Thumbs Up beat Don Bosco B, 59-34 while in the 13-under BA class, CEC destroyed Forum, 52-24.
In the 16-under BA, SHS-AdC 2 clobbered Southwestern University, 47-33. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
