A woman manning her stall in a Quezon City neighborhood was gunned down by motorcycle-riding gunmen while another vendor was injured by a stray bullet on Friday night.
Vegetable vendor Eunice Erestain, 42, died while being treated for several gunshot wounds following the attack on her at 8:35 p.m. in Barangay Nova Proper.
Case investigator PO2 Hermogenes Capili said the shooting happened in front of the Del Mundo Building on Buenamar Street where the woman also lived.
Another vegetable vendor, Ren Baldes, 20, was hurt after he was hit by a stray bullet in the left arm and right leg.
According to Erestain’s sister, Christina, there were two men involved in the shooting incident.
The victim said that earlier, she dropped by Christina’s vegetable stand to help her out in manning the stall.
Two men on a motorcycle later arrived in the area, with one of them alighting from the vehicle and walking toward the victim.
The man then fired several shots, hitting Erestain and Baldes who was manning another stall in the area.
The victim was rushed to Novaliches General Hospital where she eventually died.
The police recovered spent shells from a .45 cal. revolver from the crime scene even as investigators were still trying to determine a motive for the killing.
Capili learned from the victim’s family that they do not know of any reason nor of any person who would want her dead.
