FORMER SAN Mig Coffee Mixers import Matt Rogers found a new lease on his basketball life in the country after he was activated by the San Miguel Beermen to replace the injured Brian Williams.
This development was announced by San Miguel Corporation sports head Noli Eala over Twitter.
“Brian was ordered by the doctors to rest his knee. So we activated Matt. He will play on Sunday vs Singapore,” said Eala.
Rogers was given the pink slip by the Mixers after a less than stellar stint with the Coffee Mixers, which resulted in their 0-2 (win-loss) start in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Last year’s champion import Denzel Bowles was eventually tapped to replace Rogers.
Misfortune struck Williams during SMB’s 76-82 loss to the Westport Malaysia Dragons last weekend as he injured his knee. With time not on its side, SMB was keen to pick Rogers and pair him with Gabe Freeman as both try to right a ship that has been going up and down in the Asean Basketball League./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
