Members of body tasked to probe election fraud named
MANILA, Philippines–The members of the Department of Justice-Commission on Elections (DoJ-Comelec) committee that will conduct investigation on the alleged fraud in the 2004 and 2007 elections were named Thursday.
Prosecutor General Claro Arellano will head the committee, with Provincial Prosecutor George Dy, Pasig Chief City Prosecutor Jacinto Ang, Comelec Law Department Chief Ferdinand Rafanan and Atty. Michael Villarin as members.
At a press conference, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said the body plans to start its investigation next week.
De Lima said they would let the committee members decide or determine the time frame within which to finish its investigation.
Once the body meets, De Lima said she would help draft its rules and regulations which they will use as guide in conducting the investigation.
