MANILA, Philippines—Team PNoy on Friday likened the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to a “sinking ship” which he said needs to be abandoned if one is to survive.

“Nobody wants to be with them,” Team PNoy spokesman and Eastern Samar Representative Ben Evardone said in a statement.

“It has come to a point that being identified with UNA is a kiss of death. Even independent candidate Bro. Eddie Villanuevas has declared his refusal to accept their invitation,” Evardone said.

But UNA has already denied making an offer to Villanueva and two other independent senatorial candidates—Teddy Casiño and Edward Hagedorn—to join its slate.

The three were reported as possible  replacements of the three guest candidates—Senators Loren Legarda and Francis “Chiz” Escudero and former Grace Poe-Llamanzares—who were junked by UNA.
