BACOLOD CITY—With the United Nationalist Alliance’s decision to junk erstwhile shared candidates Francis Escudero, Loren Legarda and Grace Poe, one of their teammates in the administration slate on Friday said the campaign should start being about issues rather than on personalities.

Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara, one of the administration candidates that consistently attend Team PNoy’s campaign sorties the past two weeks, hoped the media spotlight would likewise be on the candidates’ platforms rather than on their celebrity value.

“Yes, it’s better. I hope now there’d be less focus on personalities and more on issues,” Angara said when asked what he thought of the situation now that the tug-of-war over common bets between Team PNoy and UNA has been settled with the latter’s decision to drop the three.

So what does he want highlighted?

“The economy for me. That’s the most important issue. How we create jobs, how we help the Filipino family cope with price increases, things like those,” Angara said in an interview in Bacolod City.
