MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau on Friday morning alerted the public on possible flooding in low-lying areas as it issued a yellow warning in parts of Southern Luzon.
“Moderate to heavy rainfall was observed over Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon and most likely to continue for the next three hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its official Twitter account at 8 a.m..
Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and those located near the river channels, it added.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains were forecast over Metro Manila, Aurora, Bataan and Bulacan while occasional light to moderate rains were seen over Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Zambales and Tarlac.
In the rainfall warning system, Yellow indicates 7.5 to 15 millimeters of (heavy) rains.
The rains are said to be caused by the northeast monsoon.
Pagasa also advised local disaster agencies to take precautionary measures.
