THE Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) was awarded for the second straight year as the Most Outstanding Organizational Department of City Hall.

CCMC and Duterte each received a P50,000 check from Mayor Michael Rama.

“Bahala ug mag huot, wala gyu’y balibaran,” he added.

Rama especially gave credit to Duterte for the improvements that he has seen especially at the hospital’s Emergency Room during her one year stint. He also commended the establishment last year of a customer services area at the hospital lobby.

Satisfied with how Duterte has run the hospital, Rama said that he is now considering the possibility of giving the hospital chief a regular position. Duterte currently holds casual position in the City Hall.

Raquel Arce, head of the City Market Operations was also among the four outstanding division heads which Rama recognized Wednesday night.

Arce who has been a City Hall employee for 24 years and market operations head for seven years said that the award is giving her pride an honor.

“Proud kaayo ko nga nakita sad sa mayor ang akong effort. I’ve been working beyond eight hours and usahay ma sakripisyo pa ang akong time with my children because of work,” she said.

She especially takes pride in her success in clearing sidewalk vendors from M. C. Briones Street located in front of the City Hall executive building without any resistance. Clearing operations made early last year allowed the restoration two way traffic of the road.

Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC) head Glenda Gabuya also received her share of recognition as one of the mayor’s special awardees together with secretary to the mayor Belinda Navasquez.

“I feel considerably honored and privilege to receive the Mayor’s Special Award after my one year and nine months stay with CHAC. It is very special honor and I am gratified that all the efforts I have put into, are recognized,” Gabuya said.

As CHAC head, Gabuya was actively involved in the selection and recognition of the 75 families of distinction which the city government introduced during the celebration of its 75th charter day anniversary last year because of their different contribution in the city’s growth and development.

Gabuya and CHAC is also an active partner in organizing the annual Gabii sa Kabilin and the Kabataan, Kultura and Kabilin to promote Cebuano culture to the young generation among others.

Another set of awardees, the Outstanding Institutions and Cebuanos will be recognized together with the mayor’s special awardees during the celebration of the city’s 76th Charter Day on Sunday.

Duterte said the cash award she got for herself and the CCMC cash reward will be used to buy new air-condition units and renovation of the medicare ward.

The renovation will be in preparation for the use of their new laparoscopic machine.

“Ninditon namo ang medicare para dinhi na nila ipadala ang lang pasyente unya minimal pa ang cost,” Duterte said.
