/ 07:46 AM February 22, 2013

The Cebu provincial government hasto finish distributing cash aid of barangay volunteer workers of the local governments of the province  before the start of the election campaign for local candidates on March 29.

Dr. Cristina Giango, The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) officer, gave this clarification yesterday after barangay captains in Carcar City led by Guadalupe captain Paul Alcordo criticized Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale for distributing the cash aid started by suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

The cash aids are the honorariums for the barangay tanods and barangay health workers, which the Cebu provincial government gives every year.

Giango also said that barangay captains should also look into the Interior department’s order on the qualifications of tanods as her reply to complaints of those who weren’t included in the list.

Magpale recently continued and distributed the cash aid worth P1,500 for tanods and P2,500 for health workers. The cash aid was promised by Governor Garcia before she was suspended./Correspondent Renan Alanginan
