Police secure public safety for Holy Week, rest of summer

MANILA, Philippines — Police have begun implementing security measures nationwide during the Holy Week and for the rest of the summer , an official said Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, Highway Patrol Group director, said that they were working with provincial police in traffic management and in ensuring
safety in bus terminals, especially those “travelling long routes for purposes of inspecting these buses for safe travel & their road worthiness.”

Espina said that luggage checks were also being conducted by the authorities.

The HPG also put up Motorist Assistance Centers (MACs) in major highways, said Espina.
