Stray bullet hits Caloocan teenager

MANILA, Philippines–A teenager was wounded after he was hit by a stray bullet in Caloocan before dawn Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

In a report by Senior Police Officer 2 Constantino Guerrero, the victim was identified as John Kurt, 16, who was at their home in Bagong Silang in Caloocan City when a stray bullet hit his head around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A radio report quoted the victim’s mother, Marivic, as saying that she was roused from sleep by the sound of gunfire, and eventually discovered that his son has been hit.

The report said John Kurt remains in the hospital while waiting for his surgery.

It can be recalled that 7-year-old Stephanie Nicole Ella died after she was hit by a stray bullet to her head during the New Year’s Eve revelry outside their house in Caloocan City.
