Damaged clip halts MRT operations

/ 12:33 PM August 04, 2011

MANILA, Philippines—The operations of the Metro Rail Transit system have been hampered by a problem along the south track of its North Avenue station Thursday morning, its public relations officer Lysa Blancaflor said.

Because the “clip” on the south track used to change the direction of the trains was damaged at 10:49 a.m., Blancaflor said they could only allow one train to shuttle passengers from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard and vice versa using the northbound track.

“Our service provider is replacing the damaged clip right now,” said Blancaflor, adding that they do have six trains operating from Shaw Boulevard to Taft Avenue and vice versa.
