The covered court in barangay Tayud in Liloan town will be today’s venue of the Liberal Party senatorial slate’s rally which will be attended by no less than President Aquino.
Barangay captain Oscarlito Cabahug said they are ready to host the President and his party as rally venue have been spruced up by the barangay workers as well as LP supporters.
“Mao ni pinakamaayo nga lugar para sa rally. Naay dako-dako nga lugar didto duol sa munisipyo pero comfortable ra mi diri, balwarte sab ni diri sa LP.” Cabahug said. (This is the best place for the rally, there is a bigger place near the municipal hall but we are comfortable here, people here are supporters of LP.)
The LP will be fielding Jimmy Maglasang against reelectionist Mayor Duke Frasco, son-in-law of suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Senior Inspector Leo Ty, chief of police of Liloan, said, they were ordered by the Cebu Provincial Police Office to secure the road leading to the rally site. The local police will be reinforced by policemen from the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue and Consolacion town.
Liloan is part of the fifth congressional district which has 286,238 voters. The district is the second vote-rich area in the province of Cebu and is a bailiwick of the Durano family where acting Gov. Agnes Magpale belongs to./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
