DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Former Interior Secretary Luis Santos died at the Davao Doctors Hospital here on Wednesday but details of what caused his death varied from source to source.
His family has not issued any statement yet but a DDH source said he died of complications from several illnesses.
A family friend on the other hand said the 86-year-old Santos, also former Davao City mayor, died of renal failure.
Before becoming mayor in 1971, Santos was Davao police chief.
During the late Corazon C. Aquino’s presidency, Santos served as interior secretary from 1988 to 1991.
His remains now lie at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor.
