Woman linked to Pagcor coffee scam slapped with tax rap

MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed a tax evasion case against a businesswoman involved in the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) coffee scandal.

In a complaint filed with the DoJ, the BIR said Carlota Cristy Manalo Tan violated the National Internal Revenue code for failure to supply correct and accurate information in her inc-ome tax return for 2003 and 2004.

Based on the complaint, Tan was assessed with an estimated income tax liability of 59 million.
