Midwife kidnapped in Sulu–police
MANILA, Philippines — A midwife married to a former soldier was abducted in Sulu Wednesday, police said Thursday.
Western Mindanao chief Director Felicisimo Khu, Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Integrated Police Operation (DIPO, said that Evangeline Taverisma was kidnapped by four unidentified men in Barangay (village) Tagbak in Indanan, Sulu at around 3 p.m.
Khu said that the midwi fe had been on her way home after her duty at the village rural health unit when the abductors, all armed with caliber .45 pistols, forced her into a red Toyota Tamaraw.
Police believed that the group behind Taverisma’s abduction was that of Nasir Timbang and a certain Commander Palu.
No ransom demand has been made by the woman’s abductors, said Khu.
