MANILA, Philippines—The supposedly jinxed song that has triggered a slew of fatal bar brawls in the Philippines has, for a change, brought someone a lot of luck.

A 53-year-old family man won Friday’s P44-million  jackpot of the 6/45 Megalotto by betting on a combination of numbers based on his loved ones’ birth dates, plus the play list code of his favorite videoke  song, “My Way.”

The man, a sari-sari store owner in Cagayan province, said that the ballad made popular by the late American singer Frank Sinatra, was listed as No. 8 on the song list of their home videoke unit.

His combination of 08-17-22-24-39-40 made him the sole winner of the P44,075,287.80 Megalotto jackpot on Feb. 15.

The man said he had been betting in the national lottery for the past four years but his efforts finally paid off last Friday–and on only P10 worth of tickets.

On Monday, when the winner picked up his check at the main Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in Pasay City, he told general manager Ferdinand Rojas II that he has yet to discuss with his wife and five children what to do with the winnings.
