CYBERSEX UPSETS RADAZA
LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza urged Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, city police chief, to crack down on cyberpornography in the city.
Radaza, in a press conference, said she told Obenza to submit this week a report on what action they have taken against cyberporn.
The mayor said she knew about the presence of cybersex dens in the city only when reports quoting Obenza appeared in local dailies.
She said she met with Obenza in City Hall last Friday and asked for updates.
“When I read the news, I immediately called up Obenza. What I would have needed is action. He should have conducted a raid,” Radaza said.

PROVINCE TO AWARD PALMA
CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma will be among the recipients of tomorrow’s “Garbo sa Sugbo” awards in celebration of the province’s 442nd Charter Day.
The Cebu Provincial Board passed a resolution in yesterday’s special session to give the prelate a special award of distinction for his contribution to Cebu and Cebuanos as head of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
The resolution sponsored by Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale cited Palma’s election last month as new president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
It also mentioned Palma’s “preferential care for the poor and the underprivileged by actively attending to their concerns on relocation sites and decent shelters for their families.”
The resolution lauded Palma’s “pastoral leadership, exemplary works and selfless dedication to the spiritual, moral and social life of the Cebuano community.”
Five other individuals, a local government unit and music and sports groups will also be given awards for “consistent manifestation of their life’s work that is worthy of recognition,” Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said.
The awards will be handed out during the Governor’s Ball./correspondent CARMEL LOISE MATUS
