ONE was killed while another was wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Cebu City yesterday.
These shooting cases followed two shooting attacks which happened over the weekend where two persons were killed.
Yesterday, two men on a motorcycle tailed a member of the barangay intelligence network (BIN) and shot him in the back in a barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City early yesterday morning.
Criscente Ricaplaza, 42, was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and was later transferred to Chong Hua hospital after he was shot three times in the back.
SPO1 Ruth Violango, Cebu City homicide investigator, said the shooting might have been related to Ricaplaza’s work as a BIN member, who gives information to police about illegal activities in the barangay.
Investigation showed that the assailants waited for Ricaplaza near a taxicab garage in the area. When Ricaplaza passed by, they tailed him and shot him several times.
Despite being wounded Ricaplaza continued to drive his motorcycle, got off in the corner and ran.
Witnesses said the assailants pursued him on foot and shot him again.
Ricaplaza fell when he was hit and pretended to be dead. The ploy worked and the assailant left him alone.
BUSAY INCIDENT
At about the same time in barangay Busay, an informant shot and killed a former convict.
Claudio Alipio surrendered to Buhisan barangay Captain Ramil Rago after he shot and killed Ronnie Disinan, 40.
Alipio claimed self-defense. He said that he was standing near his house when Disinan approached him, who suddenly pulled out a pugakhang, an improvised shotgun.
Alipio said he managed the grab the gun and in their struggle the gun went off hitting Disinan in the stomach.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama called on Cebu City Police Chief Mariano Natuel to act on the series of shooting incidents in the city.
