THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) continues to build upon its improving grassroots basketball program after all its teams swept their games over the weekend in the ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 2013: Cebu Youth Basketball League Season Six held in three different venues.
The 13-under A team notched its fourth straight win with a 68-36 shellacking of the Cebu Eastern College while UV-A got its second win in a row after beating the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 78-28, in the 16-under division in games that were held at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) basketball courts.
In addition, UV-B also emerged victorious in the 16-under Division B after outlasting the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), 49-32.
In other games of the Under 13 Division A, SHS-AdC improved to 3-0 (win-loss) with a 46-36 win over the University of San Carlos (USC).
USJR-A scored its first win in four games by beating SHS-AdC-B, 37-19. CEC split its games over the weekend as it also beat Don Bosco-A, 49-31 at one of four games played at the CEC Gym. Don Bosco-A bounced back from the loss by nipping USJR-A, 37-36.
In the Under 10 age group, USC North scored two wins over the weekend, defeating SHS-AdC, 20-18, before getting past USJR-A, 36-24. SHS-AdC recovered from the loss to USC North by tripping USC South, 31-18. Guest team CEC defeated USC South, 44-7. Games in the Under 16 Division A also saw guest team Don Bosco-A top USJR-A, 73-53, and SHS-AdC 1, 45-35, in games played at the Don Bosco Gym./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
