Children with cancer treated to fun day

A fun day participated by the beneficiaries of the “Pangga-a Sab Ko” program of Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc.-Cebu was held last July 10 at the JDA Beach Resort in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

The event, the first of the biannual activities for 2011, aimed to de-stress children with cancer from the chemotherapy.

The children, accompanied by their parents, were treated to a day of fun and games.

Psychologist Emmanuel Hernani from the Association for the Advancement of Humanistic Psychology and educator Rose Hernani facilitated the games and other activities.

The children also received religious storybooks, prayer books and rosaries from Sister Kuts of the Daughters of St. Paul.

Children whose birthdays fell on the first half of the year also received birthday gifts from the Kapwa Foundation.

The Pangga-a Sab Ko program has already provided medical and psycho-social support to 361 children with cancer and their families since 2000.

The program is sustained through the support of JEG Development Corp., Alpa Foundation, New Pagcor, President’s Social Fund, SM City Cebu, GMA Network Inc., Cebu City and provincial governments, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Simon Enterprises, Department of Education, and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.
