A 39-year-old man and a pedicab driver were killed in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City at dawn yesterday.
Rico Comendador, a resident of sitio Villa Manga, barangay Opao, Mandaue City, had just left a cockpit in barangay Tejero when he was shot dead by an unidentified assailant.
Police said one of the victim’s companions, Henry Son, told police that they ate at a restaurant in barangay Kasambagan before deciding to go to Mandaue.
Son said their companions went ahead on board a motorcycle.
He said he was urinating by the roadside while they waited for a taxi when gunshots broke out.
Son said when he saw Comendador slumped on the ground bloodied, he ran to the interior portion of the place to take cover.
Son said the assailant casually walked away from the crime scene and escaped on a motorcycle parked a few meters away.
The victim died on the spot with gunshot wounds in the head, abdomen and left thigh.
In barangay Inayawan, a 47-year-old pedicab driver was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding assailants.
Killed on the spot was Nicolas Hermosilla, who was with his wife during the attack.
The wife told police that they were passing along White Road when two men on a motorcycle flagged them down.
The wife said the two men showed a list of names written on a notebook and asked the victim if he knew them.
The victim answered in the negative.
Police said the two men drove off but returned later and without warning shot the victim in the head.
Police are still investigating the motive of the two attacks.
