CIE students produce ‘Fiddler on the roof’

THE CIE British School will present an adaptation of the award winning Broadway musical “Fiddler on the Roof” on Feb. 21 and 22 at SM Cinema One of SM City Cebu.

The musical theatre is this school year’s “all-student” production of CIE.

It showcases the talents of CIEans as performers, directors, writers, choreographers, musical arrangers, designers and stage-managers with the guidance of their mentors.

Curtains are raised at 7 p.m. on opening night. The following day, Feb. 22, the matinee show begins at 3 p.m., while the gala night is at 7 p.m.

Cast in the lead role of Tevye, the pious Jewish milkman in 1905 Tsarist Russia, are Business Administration junior Al Mandawe and graduating high school senior Kenley Lou.

Alternating as Tevye’s wife Golde are Tresh Castrodes and Chabella Tecson. The couple’s three older daughters are played by Khyra Adams and Karen Cabrera (Tzeitel), Audrey Azcarraga (Hodel) and Nicole Cimafranca (Chava).

The daughters’ boyfriends are played by Marc Versteeg and Mike Cavan (Motel), Myles Ng (Perchik), and Kelly Fabian (Fyedka). Lazar Wolf, the butcher is played by George Villarin; Fruma-Sara, Lazar’s wife is played by Kyla Larrauri; Grandma Tzeitel, Golde’s mother is played by Angel Chua; and Yente, the matchmaker, is played by Anthea Clarke and Celina Arriesgado.

Overall director is Rene “Sonny” Alquizola, executive vice president of the Creative Thespians Club, Inc. Alquizola played the role of Jean Valjean in the staging of Les Miserables at the Cultural Center of Cebu in 2012.
