A landscape architect, a musician, a life-saving foundation and a civic organization will be awarded by the Cebu City government on February 24 during the 76th Charter Day celebration.
The list of awardees will be endorsed to Mayor Michael Rama for approval said Councilor Margot Osmeña, vice chairperson of the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission.
The resolution will be filed in next week’s session of the city council, she said.
“There were not as many awardees as last year.. But those that we chose, we made sure they were (all) worthy,” she told Cebu Daily News.
Among the awardees will be architect Socorro Atega and musician Raymund Alcoseba Abao.
The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) and Rotary Club of Cebu West will be awarded as outstanding institutions.
Last year, Mayor Rama disapproved the giving of an award to Asian College of Technology owned by Councilor Rodrigo Abellanosa, a member of the local opposition, and former treasurer Tessie Camarillo, with whom he had a disagreement over the 2012 budget.
