Ginebra seeking new reinforcement after losing first game in PBA Commissioner’s Cup

Games today:

Araneta Coliseum

5:15 p.m.- Air21 vs. Talk ‘N Text

7:30 p.m.- Globalport vs. Barangay Ginebra

Two teams tipped to dominate this conference look to avoid absorbing back-to-back losses as the Barangay Ginebra Kings and the powerhouse Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters play separate foes today in the 38th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Texters take on the Air21 Express in the first game while the Kings battled Globalport Batang Pier in the main game.

The Kings are reportedly are shopping for a new import and could even parade a new reinforcement against Batang Pier.

Ginebra dropped its opening game against Air21, 70-74 where import Herbert Hill struggled for just 17 points although he had 18 rebounds.

Hill started the game missing his first 10 attempts en route to a woeful seven-for-24 shooting from the field.

Ginebra is reportedly eyeing to bring in former Los Angeles Lakers center DJ Mbenga. The team also tried to tap Nigerian center Jerome Jordan, who had signed up with the Lakers following the injury of Pau Gasol.

The Kings are also considering ex-San Antonio Spurs center Ike Diogu, Shavlik Randolph and former Talk ‘N Text import Donnel Harvey.

Import production is something that the Expres are not worrying as Michael Dunigan (26 points, 19 rebounds) churned solid number in the team’s win over Ginebra.
