Class 95, 96 hurdle foes in CECABA

NEW MILLENIUM Hardware ’95 and the First Family Appliance ’96 kept their hold of the lead in the standings as they notched their sixth straight wins after hurdling their respective opponents in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Tuesday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Class ’95 trounced Fil-Ann 2009, 60-41, while Class ’96 beat 3R Audio ’98, 65-56. The two teams stand atop the leaderboard with identical 6-0 (win-loss) records.

Donald Ting had 20 points, six rebounds, four steals, three assists and three blocks to lead the way for Class ’95 even has Edison Ho added 10 markers. Alfie Dwight Miranda Sy had 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists, but was a lone ranger as his team got little else from anybody else leading to their fourth loss in five games.

In the other game, Class ’96 had four players score in double figures with Franklin Neil Ong scoring 14 points, four steals, four assists and three rebounds. Rex Alinson added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Dreyfuss Ang banged in 10 points on top of nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals for Class ’96, which used a decisive rally in the first half to whip Class ’98.
