TEN candidates of the Miss Czech Republic 2013 visited the Casa Gorordo Museum in Cebu City last Jan. 31.
The century-old museum was one of their destinations in their Philippine tour.
Last year, the organizer of the Ms. Czech Republic brought their contestants to Thailand, which was featured during their coronation night.
“The Gorordos played an important role in the shaping Cebu’s history. This well-preserved house is a symbol of what Cebu has accomplished in the course of time. Thus, we are proud to show it to the world through this pageant that will be held in Czech Republic,” said Agnes Toling of the Department of Tourism in Central Visayas.
During their visit to the museum, the candidates were able to taste and enjoy some of Cebu’s famous treats like bibingka, budbud, tagaktak and masareal.
“It is important to let our foreign guests know Cebu’s heritage structures and delicacy,” said Dr. Joy Gerra, executive director of RAFI Culture and Heritage.
Before coming to Cebu, the ladies also visited the tourist attractions in Manila and Palawan.
Being a centerpiece project of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Casa Gorordo Museum promotes local heritage and cultural exchange through exhibits, arts education, forum and research.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
