CCPO ENSURES SAFE VALENTINE’S DAY
The Cebu City Police Office assures lovers celebrating Valentines Day today are safe.
Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., acting chief of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has ordered all 11 police station commanders including special units to conduct patrolling in all public places on Valentines Day.
Natu-el however warned lovers not make any lewd acts in public places no arrest will take place.
Areas were police are expected to have increased roving patrol include Plaza Independencia, Fuente Osmena Rotunda, and even at SRP areas./Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
VISAYAS OMBUD GETS SEPARATE BUDGET
Article continues after this advertisementFor the first time, the Visayas Ombudsman will have a separate budget from Manila.
Article continues after this advertisementThe office of the Visayas Ombudsman which not only caters Region 7, but also Regions 6 and 8 is so happy with the P77 million advance budget that Deputy Ombudsman Pelagio Apostol received.
“So we have our own budget almost independent from Manila now,” Pelagio said.
The advance budget will be augmented to more than a hundred million for the special budget from the office of the ombudsman Manila that will be later released.
Although there is no significant change in the budget compared to last year, Apostol said, they Visayas Ombudsman will have a hand in managing the fund, unlike before that they still course it through the Manila office./Correspondent Christine Emily L. Pantaleon
CEBU CITY COUNCIL LAUD USJ-R
The City Council approved yesterday a resolution commending the University of San Jose – Recoletos for allowing the student who figured in a sex videl scandal to finish her studies.
The resolution introduced by Councilors Alvin Dizon and Augusto Pe Jr. said the City Council is commending USJ-R “for its non-discriminatory stance, as well as compassion and support by assuring the female student involved in the sex video will be allowed to graduate provided she meets the requirements.”
In a rare show of compassion, instead of expelling the student, they provided her counselling and a chance to finish her studies./Correspondent Edison a. Delos Angeles
