Dedon Manufacturing Inc., together with its partners Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation-Integrated Development Center Inc. (JPIC) and Karl Kubel Stiftung (KKS), completed its re-housing project for Umapad scavengers in barangay Bagalnga, Compostela town, northern Cebu.
Last Feb. 5, Dedon turned over the houses to the 16 families comprising the third and last batch of beneficiaries.
The community now has 40 families.
The first and second batch of houses, were already turned over last Aug. 26 and Dec. 2 respectively, benefiting a total of 24 families.

Dedon chief executive officer and managing partner Herve Lampert led the turnover of the house keys, oathtaking of beneficiaries and blessing of the 16 housing units.
He was joined by KKS Board of Directors headed by Thomas Westermann and JPIC coordinator Fr. Tony Salas, SVD.
Lampert and his partners vowed to continue helping the beneficiaries from the Umapad dumpsite in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City by also providing them with livelihood, including farming, a small store owned and managed by the village cooperative, a start up weaving center for Dedon projects such as fashion accessories and candle making.
