MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) found election propaganda inside a university in Manila during an inspection Wednesday.

Comelec Education and Information Division chief James Jimenez said that they had received reports that propaganda materials have sprouted all over the Polytechnic University of the Philippines campus.

Three streamers of the Kabataan Partylist were seen hanging from a concrete wall inside the campus. Several posters were also seen pasted on the boundary walls of the university.

Jimenez said that it will be the responsibility of whoever posted those campaign materials to remove them. He said adhesive tape marks were found on some structures in the school, indicating some posters had already been hastily removed.

When asked if the school would have a liability, Jimenez said: “[The candidates have the responsibility] to follow the rules,” Jimenez said. “The school is a public place [you can’t put up this kind of materials].”

“At this point we have to give the candidates the opportunity to remove it themselves,” Jimenez said.
