MANILA, Philippines—Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said he trust the public’s judgment in choosing the right persons to vote on May 13 amid possible negative effects of his recent rift with Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile to his candidacy.

“Kapag masyado akong natakot ako sa resulta ng election, kalalabasan magiging trapo na tayo kasi hindi ka na gagalaw. Parang nasa utak mo na lang palagi ang pagpanalo mo sa eleksyon,” Trillanes said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

Traditional politicians, he said, would rather avoid themselves getting involved in controversial issues when election season comes near.

“May tiwala naman tayo na marunong maghusga ang taongbayan (We have faith in the wisdom of the electorate),” Trillanes said.
