NPA killed, 4 soldiers wounded in Albay clash
MANILA, Philippines—A New People’s Army rebel was killed and four soldiers were wounded in an encounter in Albay Tuesday morning, the military said.
Major Angelo Guzman of the Army’s 9th Infantry Battalion said police and military troops encountered five communist rebels while conducting combat operations in Tobgon village in Oas town at around 9 a.m.
The slain rebel was identified as Dalmacio Delapunta, also known as Boy.
The wounded soldiers were brought to hospital for treatment.
A cal.45 pistol and a hand grenade were recovered in the encounter site, Guzman said.
Brigadier General Ricardo Visaya, commander of the 901st Brigade, ordered pursuit operations.
