MANILA, Philippines—Administration senatorial bet Grace Poe will be a no show at the United Nationalist Alliance’s proclamation rally in Cebu on Tuesday but she will be represented by her son and cousin, actress Sheryl Cruz.
Poe, who is running under President Benigno Aquino’s Team Pnoy, was also adopted as guest senatorial candidate of UNA.
The former state censors chief would be at Team Pnoy’s proclamation rally this Tuesday at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila, said a statement released by her office.
“The independent senatorial candidate will be represented by her son Brian Poe and cousin, actress Sheryl Cruz, at the proclamation rally of the United Nationalist Alliance of Vice President Jejomar Binay to be held in Cebu,” the statement said.
Before going to Team Pnoy’s proclamation rally, Poe will visit the grave of her father, Fernando Poe Jr., for a short prayer at the Manila North Cemetery. Fernando Poe, the late “Action King” of Philippine cinema, ran for president unsuccessfully in 2004.
Grace Poe, the statement said, is running for the Senate “on a platform of Poverty alleviation, Opportunities for all (especially the youth and the children) and Electoral reforms” or POE.
Aside from Poe, re-electionist senators Loren Legarda and Francis “Chiz” Escudero are running under Team Pnoy but were also adopted as guest candidates of UNA.
