MANILA, Philippines—A car went on fire in front of the United States Embassy in Manila Monday afternoon, a city fire officer said.
Fire Officer 3 Oliver Sison said the vehicular fire on the southbound lane on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila, started at 4:18 p.m. and was put out at 4:25 p.m.
A Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said the car, a red Nissan Sentra, was driven by Vergilio Justiniano.
Justiniano, in an interview, said he has no idea what caused the fire.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority-Metrobase said the incident caused heavy traffic along the lane that stretched up to the Quirino Grandstand.
