MANILA, Philippines – The United Nationalist Alliance is all set to kick-start its campaign period on Tuesday with its “Three Kings” leading its proclamation rally in vote-rich Cebu City.

UNA secretary general and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco said that the presence of Vice President Jejomar Binay, former President Joseph Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile would be seen as a show of support for suspended Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, a member of the coalition.

Garcia has been locked out of her office where she previously holed up in protest of the suspension order on her.

Tiangco said their coalition was gearing up to endorse its senatorial candidates to roughly 2.4 million registered Cebuano voters before moving on to Bohol by Wednesday for the second leg of their campaign sortie in Central Visayas.

The UNA official appealed to the Liberal Party candidates to “show political maturity and leave the intrigues behind” if they want the Filipino nation to move forward.

“This year’s election must not be seen as a proxy war for 2016—this is not between black and white or yellow and the rest of the color spectrum,” he said.

UNA has maintained its stance as the “constructive opposition” amid calls for the coalition to define whether it was for or against the Aquino administration.

Tiangco insisted that they would be the government’s fiscalizers.
